Welcome to the JCTranslations blog!

Hello! Hallo! Ciao! ¡Hola! 👋🏻

I have been considering adding a blog post section to my website for quite some time now but I was never 100% sure what I wanted the content to be. I have written blogs and other online content in the past, and so I thought it would be a good idea to just give it a go again.

So, for my first blog post, I thought it would be a good idea to (re-) introduce myself, JCTranslations and this blog in general.

Who am I, and what is JCTranslations?

My name is Jack, and I am a freelance linguist based in the North West of the UK. I am a language lover and history, culture enthusiast, and all-round travel junkie. I speak four languages (for now), and I love sharing my multilingual knowledge with others and help them to learn a foreign language too.

I spend most of my available time travelling or planning trips; I've been to 11 countries so far and I cannot wait to discover even more places over the next 12 months.

JCTranslations is the 'company' that I created during my Master's degree. It's through JCTranslations that I offer my freelance language services, whether that be as a translator, tutor, cultural consultant, proofreader, editor, or all of the above. The website you are on now serves as a kind of online portfolio, where prospective clients can come to view my experience, educational history, and previous projects as well as get a feel for what I may have to offer them and their company ... far more interesting than a word document, right?

What will I be posting about?

I am a linguist and so naturally, the majority of my content will relate to languages, translation, and the world of freelancing. I will, however, also be posting content regarding travel, literature, history, and culture, amongst other things. I want to do this because, whilst languages & translation are my passion and my job, I am also very passionate about travelling, exploring other cultures, their cuisines, literature and even their history.

So, in short, you can expect content on the following themes (in no particular order):

  1. Languages

  2. Translation & being a freelancer

  3. Travel

  4. Literature & history

When will I be posting?

The truth is, I have no clue. I don't want to fix myself to a rigid schedule and then consequently force myself into a vicious cycle of churning out content that I am not passionate about just for the sake of meeting a deadline. That won't do anyone any good. I would prefer to write about something that is relevant, interesting, and engaging.

In other words, let's just see what happens.

I will post links to my most recent blog posts on my business Instagram [@jc.translations] so feel free to give me a follow and stay up to date with all things JCTranslations in 2024.

Well, I hope you made it to the end and that you enjoyed getting to know me, my work, and what is planned for this blog!

See you in the next post! :)

Until next time | hasta la próxima | alla prossima | bis zum nächsten Mal 👋🏻
